I am making a series of short YouTube videos about activities that sound fun and interesting around Wellington. This site will keep the videos and links in one easy-to-find location.
The Wellington BMX Track was created and is maintained by Capital BMX.
It's located near Karori and is free to ride on when not being used by Capital BMX.
I tried out VR gaming with an HTC Vive headset at ACKO Video Game Centre in Courtenay Place.
I booked on www.vrcade.nz and ACKO's information can be found on facebook at www.facebook.com/ACKOvgc
Since I have been there, ACKO have added PC gaming as an additional option as well as the vrcade and the consoles they already have.
Armed with some Grab-One vouchers, I went with some friends to try out the activities at Indoor Grand Prix in Kaiwharawhara:
Go-Karting, Laser Tag and mini-golf.
A very enjoyable afternoon, although you'll find I preferred some parts to others :)
Their web pages are: www.karting.co.nz
I tried out the disc golf course at Hikoikoi Reserve on the Petone foreshore. It's a fun outside pastime, although you do need to have your own discs first: we picked some up from the Petone Rebel Sport on the way, although the price seems to have gone up since then.
There's more information about the course on discgolf nz's site, as well as a downloadable pdf of the layout in case you're not sure which way to go next.
Orienteering
I had a go at an orienteering course run by Wellington Orienteering, at a farm above Belmont Regional Park.
Check their facebook page to see if they have any upcoming events, or for details of the two permanent courses they have set up, which I may look at in a later video.

Just a follow-up on the vrcade/ACKO video I did a while ago: I didn't have the time to play on the other equipment they had there, so this is a run-down of their non-VR stuff.
